PiPod Podcast Industry News - September 22, 2006

Hi there,

Here is the latest installment of PiPod Podcast Industry News

Nine News in your pocket
Earlier this month, ninemsn launched the National Nine News Now podcast service.

The podcast service brings audio and video content from National Nine News to various formats, including iPods, portable MP3 and MP4 players, and can be downloaded from 4pm each day.

The 10 minute programmes do not support advertising at this time, but both Nine and ninemsn would be looking for ad support in the future.

Garry Linnell, Nine Network director of news & current affairs, says "the initiative cements Nine and ninemsn at the forefront of changing consumer media habits."

iPods on ebay
Online auction house ebay are using an interesting iPod stat in their print advertising - an iPod is sold on Ebay every 29 minute.

With the majority of these devices being the early, audio-only models, this is further evidence of the increase in market penetration for the newer, video-enabled devices.
