Podcast not Adcast
Michael Geoghegan, author of Podcast Solutions and producer of Reel Reviews Radio, recently presented at the 2006 Podcast Expo. He warned of the dangers of turning Podcasts into Adcasts.

You can avoid this rookie error by creating podcasts that:

  • provide entertainment which supports advertising, not the other way around
  • connect with the audience on a personal level rather than as a consumer
  • are produced by Podcasters not marketing departments
  • are not over-scripted or over-produced

Channel Ten 'Thank God' for the Podcast
The stats are in on Channel Ten's first foray into podcasting. The 'Thank God You're Here' podcasts, Sponsored by Hungry Jacks, provided some very tasty results indeed.

50,000 people downloaded episodes and another 150,000 streamed episodes directly from the website.

According to OMD digital director Leigh Terry: “This proves the point that it is about content. If it’s good enough, then people will seek it out and watch it.”
